150th Anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of St. Helena

Yesterday, 31st October 2009 saw the Anglican Diocese recapture the momentous scene when on this day 150 years ago St. Helena welcomed their 1st Bishop, Piers Calveley Claughton.  Our present Bishop, Bishop John Salt showed tremendous courage and started the celebration by being rowed ashore as it would have happened 150 years ago, in weather which was too many undesirable.  It is questionable whether this depicted similar weather to what Bishop Claughton would have experienced.  Members of the Anglican Diocese and the general public also set the scene by dressing in garments that would have been worn in that era.

Enjoy!
